Prof./Dr. Natasha Kyprianou MBBS, PhD
Dr. Kyprianou is a Professor of Urology, Oncological Sciences and Pathology & Cell Based Medicine at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. As a translational researcher in urologic oncology, Dr. Kyprianou’s research efforts focus on dissecting the mechanisms of therapeutic resistance in lethal prostate cancer and development of targeted modalities to treat advanced metastatic tumors.
Her work on the identification of apoptosis signaling mechanisms in cancer development and progression to metastasis has defined the role of TGF-beta ( transforming growth factor-beta) as a bifunctional regulator of tumor growth and metastasis ( via induction of epithelial-mesenchymal transition, EMT) in several human malignancies , including lung cancer. She was recently honored with the Presidential Medal of Distinction, bestowed by the President of the Republic of Cyprus, for her contributions to science and cancer research.
Dr. Kyrianou’s academic achievements and translation experience will be highly relevant for Onconox programs.
